Today we had a tour around Pest. The city is incredible -- they have the first continental subway line and the second largest parliament; quite possibly both second to England's.
The parliament building is so expensive that if the country would've spent the money building a city instead, they could've built a new Rochester, NY. When the communists took over Hungary, they stopped using the House of Lords and kept the House of Commons in use. Nowadays the House of Lords is a conference center for European Union diplomats and the House of Commons is still used by Hungarian legislators.
One odd thing I realized (odd just because it doesn't involve beautiful expensive political buildings) is that PDA is very okay here, so many people kissing and hugging intimately on the train on my way to school haha.
